Today, 22 August 2024, we held a very fruitful discussion with Addis Ababa City Administration Health Bureau, Pharmacy Directorate. We discussed on a wide range of agenda items believed to contribute to the delivery of quality pharmacy services to the metropolis community.

Discussion mainly focused on pharmacy professionals’ capacity building. strengthening clinical pharmacy service, strengthening public-private partnership with a focus on advancing the delivery of pharmacy services at community pharmacies, pharmaceutical sector leadership development and objective evidence generation for objective decision making among others.

Thank you Pharmacist Seife, the Director and his colleagues for arranging the meeting. Definitely, both organizations will start practical steps soon.

Mr Kidu Abadi

As part of its overall efforts to build its capacity and ensure its sustainability by generating resources from within and hence be able to fund and execute its operations and projects, the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Association through the commitment of its Steering Committee and other dedicated members has been working hard to secure its own plot of land in Addis Ababa to build a multipurpose building.

As a result, after protracted hard work and dedication of the Steering Committee and other stakeholders, the association managed to secure a 652m2compound at the heart of Addis Ababa, beside Sanford International School, in December 2013 with an already built office rooms which suffices for its current operations. This has relieved the association of the burden of the skyrocketing monthly office rent expenses in the city.

Now all members of the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Association are delighted that their association has a spacious compound where it can build a multipurpose building of its taste rising up to 35 meters high. Hence, the Steering Committee is redoubling its efforts to exploit every opportunity at its disposal, mobilize resources to the maximum of their potential, carry out preliminary works towards starting constructing the multipurpose building and finally implementing the actual construction.

A consultative workshop to enrich a “Clinical Pharmacists Coaching Guide” organized by the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Association (EPA) and USAID/JSI kicked off today in Addis Ababa, Ras Amba Hotel. Participants (senior clinical pharmacists) drawn from different regions are in attendee of the workshop who are expected to provide coaching services to their junior colleagues at health facilities in their environs based on a validated coaching guide. The workshop will span for three days (15-17 August 2024).

The cost of the training is fully covered by USAID/JSI. EPA would like to extend its immense gratitude to USAID/JSI for the fruitful partnership and generous support
