EPA’s duties and responsibilities

  • Work with relevant stakeholders to advance pharmacy education and ensure its quality
  • Work to build the skill and competency of pharmacy professionals, ensure proper deployment and career progress
  • Design and implement strategies and a system to ensure professional ethics and career progress
  • Actively participate in the formulation of policies, laws and directives governing the pharmaceutical sector
  • Propose policy and strategy issues deemed to be pivotal to the growth of the sector and advocate for their consideration by policy makers.
  • Create conducive environment to enhance professional and social networking among professionals
  • Establish relationship with sister professional associations and organizations in and out of the country and facilitate the growth of the profession
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to scale up model community pharmacy service that can serve as model for professionals engaged in the sector and work with relevant stakeholders to ensure rational use of medicines
  • Conducts research in the pharmaceutical sector and supports and encourages researchers in the area
  • Provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to pharmacy professionals and conducts pharmacy professionals professional registration and licensing when mandated
  • Designs and implements strategies, projects and systems that can sustainably build the capacity and enhance efficiency of the association

  • Work and advocate to advance the profession in collaboration with different governmental and non-governmental stakeholders
  • Supports and encourages the establishment of pharmacy students associations and student clubs at schools of pharmacy and actively participate in their events
  • Organize meetings, scientific conferences and seminars related to the profession
  • Serve as a source of information on medicines and other health related issues
  • Publish/produce books, scientific and other bulletins, brochures and audio-visual information, set their selling price and distribute them to readers
  • Actively participate in the containment of counterfeit medicine production, circulation and consumption
  • Broadcast public education programs on medicine and other health related information through mass media
  • Mobilizes fund in the name of the association & constructs, rents and sells a building
  • Awards outstanding members, organizations and/or individuals
  • Work in collaboration with various governmental, non-governmental and other relevant bodies to advance pharmacy profession
  • Owns property, enters an agreement and has legal entity
  • Recruits, registers and dismisses members in accordance with the constitution
  • Establishes its head quarter and branch offices
  • Sets membership fee and collects annual fee
  • Performs other duties deemed to be supportive to realize the objectives of the association
